AppTek has successfully integrated statistical translation memory with rule-based machine translation (MT). Research and Development is currently concentrating on enhancing the quality of MT to reach the level of post-edited translations. AppTek is also involved in scientific speech research on foreign languages, adapting text-to-speech and speech-to-text rules for classical spoken languages to apply to local dialects. AppTek’s telephony-server infrastructure allows for data collection from a diverse range of dialects in different countries.

Research and Development

Machine Translation (MT) allows user to translate digital documents from one language to another. OCR is also integrated with Machine Translation to assist in the conversion of hard-copy documents. Rule-based Machine Translation systems are informative. Statistical Machine Translation is fluent. Hybrid Machine Translation (HMT) achieves both. Name-Finding helps Machine Translation. Automatic (or Automated) Speech Recognition ASR is integrated with Machine Translation for speech data source. Machine Translation is widely used in government, schools and commercial entities. Languages in AppTek's Machine Translation portfolio include; Arabic, Persian (Farsi, Dari), Pashto (Pashtu), Urdu, Turkish, Korean, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian, Polish and Hebrew. In 1629, Ren� Descartes proposed a universal language, with equivalent ideas in different tongues sharing one symbol.
